Chair’s Column

During the summer months, most of Hadleigh Young Farmers’ have been flat out farming! We finished for the summer in July, and have now started our new autumn programme. During our summer break, our Sports Secretary Dan Cracknell has hosted a photography competition. Each week members have been posting photo’s to our Facebook page, and the photos that are liked the most are the winners. Members have become quite competitive with numerous entries each week that have all captured Harvest and Summer 2013 brilliantly.

However, you don’t have to be a farmer to be a Young Farmer! Many of the members are not directly involved in farming, and it’s those that aren’t that have kept themselves busy preparing for the new YFC year. We are always looking for local speakers or places for tours or visits for our programme and are very grateful to those who have already hosted us. Lined up for the Autumn we have a visit to Giffords Hall Vineyard, our AGM where a new committee will be elected, and a New Members Night. The New Members Night is on Wednesday 9th October and anyone aged 16 to 30 with an interest in farming or the outdoors are welcome to come along.
